Why massage therapy?

lower back pain, sciatica, lumbar/sacral pain

Everyone from office workers to active older adults can benefit from therapeutic massage. There are many techniques to target any area or level of pain.

Blended Therapeutic Massage:

Sometimes you need rest and relaxation during a session. Other times, what is needed is a more direct, therapeutic approach to address muscular areas of chronic pain, restriction and tightness that leaves you with limitations in daily activities and movement.

And there are times, when you might need both. A time to rest, rejuvenate, re-set, and to experience less muscular pain, more ease in movement.

A Blended Session offers both.

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't feel uncomfortable. Keep in mind that some mild brief soreness can occur after the treatment. Drinking plenty of water post session can aid in you receiving maximum benefit from the work.

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports can be harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs activity by helping to prevent injury, reduce pain and inflammation, relax the mind, increase flexibility & dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an active person/ athlete, from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function.

Trigger Point Therapy involves applying focused pressure onto specific points of the body called "trigger points". Trigger points are places in the body that can cause pain to other areas of the body. For instance a trigger point on the hamstring might cause pain in the lower back. These trigger points are dissolved by applying direct pressure to the muscle for several seconds with either the hands, fingers, or elbows. Through several sessions, trigger points can be eliminated, helping to restore function and health to the body.

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
